A few Saturdays ago, Ramon and I joined up with the Daegu Running club- something I found through Facebook. We drove over to a University where we were meeting, which is only 12 miles from us, but took an hour with traffic and lights. We met some great people during the run, who are actually Americans teaching English at the University. We found that there is a large number of Americans that teach here because to be a Professor, they don't need a PhD, just Masters; they get paid a lot more than in the states and they get 4 months of paid vacation. So anyone thinking of teaching overseas, it seems like a great job! Anyway, we met a couple around our age that have a 2 year old boy and she invited us to a Halloween party they were having the next day at an indoor play area (very common in Korea). We decided to go and were introduced to many more couples that were originally from the states and some have been living here for 6 or more years. It was a great opportunity to meet other people, not affiliated with the military, and ask our many questions about food, language, driving etc. We have since met up with that couple that invited us and a few of the other couples and have really enjoyed their company. We plan on going to their place for the Saturday after Thanksgiving (since they don't get Thanksgiving off), which will be nice to be around others, sharing the typical turkey and fixings!
